IT as a Profession and Career Choice
The scope of the profession is much wider than ever before and is no longer just about technical skills. IT is increasingly focussed on business change and transformation with the trend towards multi skilled IT practitioners who understand the context of the business within which they operate.

Adam Thilthorpe joined BCS in 2005 after a period working in the City of London at institutions such as JP Morgan Chase and Co and Georgeson Shareholder. At the BCS Adam is involved principally in developing the society’s strategic initiative to raise professionalism in IT and especially in work to engage with employers of IT professionals to increase professionalism in the industry. He speaks regularly at conferences and other events to promote the IT profession and develop corporate relationships to achieve these aims.
